Postdoktorstipendiaten hadde et seks måneders forskningsopphold ved King's college London og University of Exeter fra 1.1.18 til 30.6.18. Gjennom samarbeid med forskere der fikk han demonstrert laboratorium arbeidet ift. ekstraksjon av genetisk materiale, samt genetiske analyser med GWAS. Han lærte også hvordan man gjør kvalitetssjekk av genetiske data (vasking av data) ift. kontroll av etnisitet, kjønn, kvalitet på genetiske data etc. Bergh gjorde deretter kvalitetssjekken av de genetiske data for de norske deltakerne i studien, mens britiske samarbeidspartnere gjorde tilsvarende for UK data. Under oppholdet deltok også Bergh på et kurs om GWAS analyser, og Principal Component Analysis. En artikkel om GWAS og risiko for psykose ved demens er skrevet i samarbeid med samarbeidspartner i UK, og submittet i januar 2019.
