The main goal for this project is to analyze molecular interactions in organ-specific metastasis using melanoma cell lines injected into experimental animals. The allocated post doc stipend was in time and money significantly less than the proposal, narrowing down the initiated project and setting a temporary end point earlier in the proposed project. Also, there has been a shift in the time frame of the project due to the maternity leave taken by the post doc candidate. The project is still ongoing, with a time-limited other source of funding.
Most material has now been harvested, and results will become available for analysis within the next few months. Our aim is to study possible interactions by mining data sets obtained from the melanoma tumor cells detected and isolated in the various organs, and from host organ tissue and control tissue, and is being actively pursued.
