Patient-reported outcomes data from selected patients in international RCTs, real life patients from a national registry, as well as a clinical intervention study of an early rehabilitation programme in Helse Bergen is used to scrutinize the aims of the study. Project I is making use of a database including merged data from four international randomized controlled trials including 28,781 patients. To our knowledge there was no patient involvement in the planning and undertaking of these trials. In Project II, patient representatives have been involved when establising the intervention, in the process of translation of PRO instruments, and currently contributes in teaching in the programme. Project III includes data from a national registry. This national registry has a patient representative on the board contributing to the discussions, particularly concerning patient-reported data (which is included in this study).
