Forskningsprosjektet tar utgangspunkt i pasientnære problemstillinger. ParkVest-studien har hatt langvarig samarbeid med Norges Parkinsonforbund som brukerorganisasjon. Det gjennomføres møter med brukerorganisasjonen for å diskutere pågående og planlegge kommende forskning. Norges Parkinsonforbund har også bistått økonomisk til gjennomføring av studien og enkeltprosjekter, samt møter i forskningsgruppen.
