The K.G. Jebsen Thrombosis Research and Expertise Center aims to perform research that is highly relevant for their clients, which are mainly patients and health care professionals. Currently, there is no national organization for VTE-patients in Norway, and therefore we have established a board for client involvement in TREC. The board consists of two patients who have experienced a VTE and a senior consultant in Haematology who is involved in treatment and care of VTE patients. The board meets with the scientific leaders in TREC twice a year (spring and fall). The board members are invited to comment on, and contribute to, development of research proposals. They also participate in the planning and strategies of public dissemination activities in TREC (both dissemination of results from TREC projects and general knowledge of thrombosis to the population ). In this way, the clients are actively involved as advisors for the investigators in TREC, both with regards to development of relevant research projects and public outreach.
