Kandidaten hadde høsten 2015 et opphold ved Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Hinxton, England i gruppen til Dr. Serena Nik-Zainal. Oppholdet gav kandidaten direkte kunnskap om og svært relevant erfaring med analyse av neste-generasjons sekvenseringsdata fra pasientprøver i tillegg til god erfaring som besøkende gjesteforsker. Dette har vært av stor betydning for resultater og progresjon av prosjektet.
